Ok, I woll post here a PM I sent to ThaAznQueen, in the hope that it may help someone else too.
Well, to tell you the truth, we just read letters as they are. For example, in English you say "be" to "B". in Romanian you pronunciate "B" as you do it in the word "bunny" It's plain. And it goes like this with all letters.
you read "A" as you ream "o" in "cOme".
"C" as "C" in "Come"
"D" as D in Darling
E as A in Apple or E in E-lephant
F as f in Flirt
G as G in Gone
H as H in Harm
I as "EE" in "dEEd" or i in Idiot
J as "GI" in the French pronunciation of Gilette. (I can't find an equivalent now"
k is usually read as "C" before
l is the "L" in"Letter"
m - m in "mother"
n - n in "none"
o - o in "orphan"
p - p in "place"
q - usually read as "C" and "K" before
r - r in "restaurant"
s - s in stone
t - t in time
u - as "oo" in "gloom"
v - v in "vacant"
w- you read it as "u" or "V" before - it depends.
x - you read it as "CS" or "GZ" - depends on the word
y - you read it as "I" before
z - as z in "zone"
W Q and Y are letters that do not occur in Romanian words but are borrowed to aid to the writing of foreign names.
We also have some special letter that do not occur in your language
We have ş read as "sh" in "fish"
Ţ - read as "tz" in "pretzel"
î and â - I cannot find an equivalent now...they are read the same way, but the first one is used only as fisrt or last letter in a word and the second gives the same sound only inside the word.
ă - read as "a" the article or "A" in "abridged"
hope that helps a bit...
And hello Marco! Ma bucur sa vad un roman.
